Each day, business people from around the county, state and globe attend meetings, luncheons and seminars in Gwinnett. Prior to 1999, these meetings were held at hotels with meeting space and catering capabilities, private restaurants or the workplace of the host business. Although these are wonderful venues for meeting and entertaining, business owners and residents of Gwinnett expressed a desire for a private facilitiy where they could entertain an important client, holded catered business meetings, network with fellow business owners or just relax after working hours.
In an effort to provide Gwinnett residents and businesses a central meeting place for this type of business, and for social and political camaraderie, an organizing committee was established and the work to design a private club in Gwinnett began.
1999, Gwinnett leaders christened the opening of Gwinnett’s first private club -- The 1818 Club. The Club, named for the year Gwinnett’s charter was issued, was a significant milestone in Gwinnett’s coming of age in the great Atlanta business community.
The 1818 Club occupies the top floor of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce headquarters. Located on Sugarloaf Parkway adjacent to the Gwinnett Center and Gwinnett Arena, with immediate access to the I-85 corridor and GA 316, the Club is well situated in an area that is dubbed the county's center of business activity.
Nearly ten years later, The 1818 Club has over 700 members that enjoy preferred dining and social privileges in an elegant, yet casual atmosphere conducive to business meetings and social functions alike.
